Josh broke his arm

Josh took a dive off our front porch stair railing, and broke his arm, both bones, and not just a little break either! We were getting ready to leave, he was the first one ready, and decided to go out the front door to the garage. He couldn't resist his newest stunt of slinging his leg over the railing and sliding down to the bottom of the steps, however, I wasn't aware that was his intentions or it wouldn't have happened! (I asked him later if he had ever done this before, and he said one time. Second time wasn't so lucky.) I shut the front door behind him, and went to put on my shoes and Noah's shoes and coat. Literally not even a minute later, I hear him crying at the garage door. I run over, thinking maybe he got stung by a bee, which would involve the epi pen, open the door, and he holds up his right arm crying. I look at it and realize it's definetly broken, and I turn around, not sure what I was doing, then turn back to look at it again, this time I took it in my hand, put it down, turn around to Shawn and inform him Josh has a broken arm. Probably not that calmly though! Rather hysterically, I suppose. Well, off we go after dropping the other 3 off to Dad, and in the ER we sit for approxiately one minute after being evalutated, and to the room we go. Xrays comfirm what we could visually tell. His arm was sorta u shaped heading into his torso. They gave him a shot of diladed(spelling??), into his rear, splint it and send us home. The next day, we took him to the ortho dr, and he gave us the option of setting it there, or heading to the OR the next day to knock Josh out and then set it. Shawn, Josh and I all felt it best to just get it done. So the Dr put two shots of novacain into his arm next to both broken bones with an inch and a half long needle, waited about 10 minutes, then forced Josh's arm bones back together. Very painful for Josh, but he was amazing. He laid on the table and let the Dr do his job. We had a wonderful Dr that has 4 children also, and he and his wife also home school! He explained step by step what he was doing to Josh, and told Josh he promised he wouldn't trick Josh in any way, he would tell him exactly what to expect. Josh was then put into a bright green cast, which he'll have on for the next 6 wks. He keeps asking if we can take it off now, sigh, what a long 6 wks the poor fellow will have!

School room progressing!

Some pictures of the school room progress. We have most of the outside done now, just some siding to put up near the roof line. Dad ran electric today, I have started putting in insulation, however, I need to mow grass today, so insulation is on hold until either Shawn or I have time later on to finish it. We do have our lights up, and they work. Dad is moving right along! Shawn, Tad, and Uncle Billy put the shingles on, while Dad measured and cut them. This project is keeping both Dad and I busy. I hardly find time to keep up with the housework and schooling, but we'll make it!
