Happy 11th Birthday, Hannah!

Happy Birthday to our precious daughter! I made a chocolate carmel cake this morning after an hour and a half of weeding the garden. Hannah's favorite cake, but the poor kid, weeding the garden on her birthday! Well,,,, actually, Hannah pulled a chair up to the garden and read a book while I weeded and the boys played in the dirt. Zach got in on the weed action for awhile until the weeds bored him :) and then he was off riding his bike.

We are on the mend this week, after the flu hit us, all 6 of us!, last week. We went to the Lake on Monday, then Josh was sick Tues., Zach on Wed., Hannah early Thurs., Shawn and I Thurs. evening, and Noah on Friday! I also had my minor surgery on Tuesday(22nd) and am awaiting pathology results, however, it does look better than I thought. Glad again of the need to learn to trust God's plan for our life. Thankful for my dear husband that took a day off work in his busy schedule to take me and offer reassurance too. And thanks to my sister for her help with the kids.

I do have some garden shots I'll post later. I am sorta keeping up with the garden, but wasn't counting on the flu and my other illness that set me back a bit.

Here is a parting shot that I think is just adorable.

Garden pictures, Peanut news

We had a busy weekend, with a graduation party, putting up a small load of hay for Dad(only about 100 bales), and a cook-out at Dad's on Sunday. Also, on Sunday afternoon when I went to the barn to take Beauty and Peanut to pasture, I saw Peanut bleeding pretty heavily on his leg. On closer inspection, I saw a deep cut. Called the vet and he came out about an hour later. He said Peanut didn't severe his flexor tendon, but he did slice it. He gave him a sedative to make him not really care much about what was going on, but as I held his head and Shawn held his body while the vet worked, I noticed he was snoring and getting heavy. Shawn and the vet laid him down, and that little relaxer turned into a heavy sedative for Peanut! Steve was able to clean and put in 6 stitches and give 2 shots without Peanut waking up. After about 40 minutes, Steve took his head and helped him stand. He is on meds now and limited walking to allow the leg to heal, so back to being shut up in the barn with his momma and me scooping up the poo!!:)
Here is the first of the garden shots. We finally had rain on Monday, after a short dry spell. I tilled the garden on Saturday evening, no weeds. By Monday afternoon, there are quite a few now. So, if I don't get stuck in the mud and the rain holds off, I hope to weed during nap time today!
On another note, when I went out to give Peanut his medicine, I heard tiny meows. I looked and
sure enough in the box in the garage, 5 tiny kittens made their appearance in the world early this morning(or late last night!). Kitties, anyone?
