Happy 11th Birthday, Zachariah!

Wow, only 2 years from being a teenager! So incredible how far we've come since we brought home that little 4lb5oz preemie 11 years ago. We had a busy birthday weekend, mine on the 30th and Zach's on the 31st. Shawn got me a really neat rose that will always bloom, it is battery operated and opens the red flower at the touch of a button with a message inside, then touch again, and the bloom closes. He took the children and I to Texas Roadhouse for our birthday supper. Zach's grandma Karen took him to Applebee's on Thursday night for his birthday supper with Grandma and Papa. Saturday evening, Grandma Karen and Papa Chris brought over cake and ice cream for my birthday and got me a really nice jean skirt with a white shirt. Thanks so much! We had mayonnaise cake with peanut butter icing on Sunday for Zach. Zach got an 18 speed bike from his Dad and Mom, a lot of Play Mobile knights and accessories from Grandma Karen, money from Aunt Diana, and his first tool kit with real tools, squirt guns, bike equipment and sandals from Aunt Angie. Thanks for your gifts and supporting Zach by eating birthday cake with us. In the afternoon, the children and I went visiting Grandma's taking some white flowers from our hill. First to Grandma Mary, who is 96, and then to Grandma Hattie, who is 86. We stopped at the Lake on the way home and the children played on the playground. We took an adventurous walk near the water, up the hill, down the little path toward the water edge, with Hannah leading. She was almost to the waters edge when she turned around and high tailed it up the hill excitedly saying, "Go Back GO BACK!" WELL, with that yell(and the hissing I heard) we quickly high tailed it back up the hill and asked at the top what was it. She said it was a mad goose and it was making itself big and hissing. I know they can get mean, so I'm glad she was the one that went first and not Noah, who might have just told the silly goose to be quiet! :) Anyway, Happy Birthday, dear Zach, how we love you and are so glad to have you in our family! Here is a picture of Grandma Mary.

Science project

We have a new science project going on. Tuesday morning after I did the animal feeding, I went to our pond and pulled out 3 clumps of frog eggs. I put them into 2 different aquariums and we are seeing if it makes a difference in artificial light compared to indirect light from the window. I would guess one clump has at least 500 eggs in it, and another around 250. The small one has only 25 eggs. :) So, if they all survive, which I doubt, we will have approximately 700+ amphibians in our house! Frogs, anyone??? I did take a picture, however, Shawn would like supper, so I'll post that later.

While playing

Today the UPS truck brought Josh's 2nd grade history and science course material. Noah is playing trucks and cars with his 2 brothers. He just said, "The EWPS truck is here!" pronounced Ew,( as in yuck). Funny how they hear and what they say.

A note I found

I was going through old tablets and found a note I jotted down to remember later. On 12-15-2010 when Josh was 5 1/2 years old he said, "If Mommy had a full sized job, we'd have to go to real school." So cute, I am so thankful my children love being homeschooled, as much as I love instructing them!

Wonderful weekend weather

We had amazing weather this past weekend. The digital temperature in the sun on Sunday read 87*! We enjoyed working at Dad's all day Saturday into Saturday evening doing yard work. Shawn accomplished a lot by taking off and putting on a new metal roof on the old smoke house. On Sunday afternoon, we spent close to 2 hours walking through Dad's fields and looking at what needs to be taken care of for the next phase of updates. All 6 of us received our first sunburn of 2012, in the first part of March! That is definitely the first time we have ever received a sunburn in the winter! Here is a few pictures to remember our day by. We found this tree with this carved into it. Very neat, Dad has owned the place for over 35 years so it is at least older than that!

Happy 4th Birthday, Noah!

Noah's last night being 3!
Oh how big you are getting, our little baby is quickly turning into quite the young little man! You'll always be my littlest though, and hold that special place in Daddy and Mommy's heart that we have for each of our children, no matter how old you get! We spent Noah's birthday weekend remodeling, or I should say Shawn did! The living room is almost finished(pictures need hung), we would like to start working on the kitchen this week. Shawn fixed all the holes, and the nails that are coming out on our walls(builder didn't think of using screws so we wouldn't have this problem 11 years later) and painted the ceiling and 2 coats of paint on the walls. We no longer have a pinkish colored living room, it's tan. I will post before and after shots later, but I will share a few of the birthday boy! Today was Union Mtg at my Dad's, and since we are in the remodeling stage, we decided to have cake and ice cream at Dad's. Shawn's Mom and Dad came there. So, Grandpa, Aunt Diana, Aunt Angie, Uncle Tad and Emily, Grandma and Papaw, and of course Daddy, Mommy, Hannah, Zach, and Josh, and the special birthday boy, Noah, had Mayonnaise Cake with Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream at 1:30. Noah got a new bike from Daddy and Mommy, a hand made toy box by Grandpa L., 3 playmobil playsets from Grandma, some lego's and misc. from Aunt Diana, a scooter and bike helmet from Aunt Angie, and a Pooh snuggle pillow from Uncle Tad and Emily, and money from Uncle Harold and Aunt Marvis, and Aunt Sandy and Emily. Happy Birthday my little Noah bear!
